Telluride Blues and Brews: Bonnie Raitt

bonnie-rait-telluride-6
The three-day festival was wrapped up with a stellar performance by Bonnie Raitt. Even on the last day of the festival the weather did not let up, and even got worse – so bad that at one point Bonnie had to leave the stage, and the crew covered up all the gear. Luckily that passed, and Bonnie returned to rock out the rest of the night. I had never seen her perform, and she is one hell of a slide guitar player. No surprise, but her voice is fantastic too – it all seems to come out stronger when you see it in person.

Taj Mahal and his band came on stage for several songs, and it was great to see them both jamming out to classic blues songs all night long. At one point they even covered one of Toots’ new songs which I really enjoyed.
