Telluride Blues Day 1: Big Head Todd and the Monsters

Big Head Todd and The Monsters are very well known in Colorado. Having grown up in Connecticut, I would liken this band to one of my favorites out east, Max Creek. Todd Park Mohr is one hell of lead man, and an amazing electric guitar player. The band’s songs are creatively arranged, with some intricate musings throughout, carrying the listener through highs and lows as the band improvises.
When Big Head Todd took the stage, we were also lucky enough to have some threatening weather arrive. At first it was just rain, that quickly turned to thunder, and if that wasn’t enough, hail came down. None of that stopped Big Head Todd and the Monsters, or the die hard telluride blues and brews festival fans, we stuck it out.
